I am a horrible blogger. For some reason, I love to start blogs but never seem to continue to write in them. I have been writing in another blog fairly reguarly, as its one that I am using to keep track of how many books I read. I want to read 52 books in a year. This one is meant for everything year. Pretty much last year was an ok year. This year is going to be great. I want to travel more, and exercise more. Ok I don’t really want to do the second one but I am going to anyways. I also want to knit more, crochet more, read more, cook more. I want to do a lot more than I did last year. Last year I just fell into a routine, one that was kind of boring to be honest. This year I just want to life a bit more.

Things have been so strange lately. Work is still stressing me out. I haven’t been working out. I haven’t been eating properly. I have been in the hospital for a mystery pain which went away. I need to get my life in gear. The hospital bit was a kick in the face really. It has made me think twice about the choices I am making. I need to workout more and eat healthy and just be less stressed. I don’t need to save everything. I need to do what I want to do to make myself happy.

Work and stress

I am working right now as an application support analyst for a software company. I never thought I would do customer support, as I have a degree as a developer, and I thought I would just do that instead. However, I love working with clients. I am having trouble dealing with the unorganized way the company is run. Ok, not even the way the whole company, just the way my department has fallen through the cracks. And there is one guy, who pisses me off more than I can stand. I hate working with him. It makes me an angry person. I feel like he is treating me like an idiot all the time. Treating me not like an equal but someone below him. I am not below him. We are at the same level and I am not an idiot. I probably should’ve started with that. Anyways, I know my stuff. I kind of have to accept what he says and suck it up. He makes me feel defensive. He drives me insane and makes me want to quit. Today. Walk out. Obviously that would be career suicide because I know I have a future with this company and there are a lot of opportunities for me. He just needs to be taken down a few notches. I think in the near future that is going to happen. Just one little email from him can piss me off. He seems so fake like he is using us for his own gain.

I am going to see if some knitting therapy will help me because right now, I’m really angry.

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

I just want to start off by saying Merry Christmas! Christmas time is my favorite time of year. I love Christmas. The colors, the lights, the time with family. My family is the most important thing in my life. I love spending time with them, especially at Christmas. This year, I was in PG for just a short time, Thursday-Tuesday, but it was great. That being said, I am glad to be going home.

Things have been changing fairly quickly for me lately. I just moved to a new apartment and I am still unpacking. I love it though. It’s a really nice place. Way better than where I was living before. Probably too much space for me but that’s alright. It feels like home. I am also working on getting a new position in my company. I enjoy my job but I don’t feel that I am quite in the right position right now. I am working on that now though

I have also been starting to think about my New Year’s resolutions. I tend to always think of the stereotypical ones and never end up succeeding. That’s ok though. It’s the thought that counts, right?

This year my resolutions are as follows (to be edited as necessary before Jan 1):

Eat healthier.
Exercise twice a week.
Finish my knitting/crochet projects. At least 1 per month.

We will see how this goes. I am sure I will change my plans but those are a start.

Anything I want

I asked myself an odd question today. What kind of life do I want to have? What kind of person do I want to be? My answer surprised me. “Anything I want” . For once, I didn’t qualify it with “within reason.” Just simply, I can have whatever I want. I can be whatever type of person I want. I’ve never done that before. Usually it’s, oh I can have whatever I want as long as I can afford it. Or I can probably do whatever I want. I just finally realized the world is my oyster.

I think I am lactose intolerant. At least to some degree. I finished my month of no dairy and yesterday, I had a glass of milk, a bowl of cereal with milk, perogies, and lasagna ( not all at once, don’t worry:P ) and I felt like crap all day! I don’t think I am REALLY lactose intolerant, just mildly. Honestly though, I have felt a lot healthier when I was doing the no dairy thing because I ended up cutting out a lot of processed crap from my diet as well as things that I probably shouldn’t be eating anyways like cookies, and cakes, and cheese filled smokies. My suppers are usually just grilled chicken or salmon fillets, roasted potatoes, or brown rice (I ran out of rice) and maybe a veg. The veg thing is a little hard for me. I just don’t like veggies. I have been doing better for snacks. My now go-to snack is dried fruit. I especially love dried mango but it’s not cheap so now it’s dried apricots. So all in all, it wasn’t too bad. Next month is gluten I’m very afraid.

I started running again. I did 2 km twice this week. Ok well I WENT 2km but I definitely didn’t run the whole way.

I just finished making my friend’s beach bag for her birthday. I LOVE it! I will take some pix and put them up in a bit. It’s probably my favorite bag that I have ever made. I am trying to finish some of my projects, again, so it was first on the list. The other ones are a bit harder. I think I am going to work on the scallop cardigan I started a couple months ago.

No Dairy Day 7

Ok so I guess I am not starting over. Yes I slipped up. Get over it

Breakfast: Cereal with soy milk

Lunch: dried mango

Supper: McChicken, Fries, Iced Tea

Ok I realize I had McDonalds again. I really have to stop that. Tomorrow I promise I will make a real meal. Chester is coming for supper so I am going to make fish. It will be great. I really need to clean my apartment though because it’s a disaster.

I had my interview today. It went pretty well I think. I had a good vibe. Tomorrow is my phone interview which will give me lots of time to clean and cook Laundry in the morning I think.

Also, I have found a new crochet project. I know, bad me. I found a bag I want to make. At least I didn’t buy yarn. I just bought handles which were 25 cents. I did want handles for my cable bag but they still didn’t have any! Lame!

Week 1 of no Dairy

I decided that I needed a way to write down everything that I eat in my no dairy diet so here goes nothing:

Day 1: Tues, June 1

Breakfast: Cereal and soy milk

Lunch: leftover pasta and tomato sauce

Supper: Brown rice and leftover stew

Day 2: Wed, June 2

Breakfast?

Lunch: Tuna and crackers

Supper: Mu Shu Turkey

Snack: 2 kiwi fruit

Day 3: Thurs, June 3

Late Supper: Crackers and Pepsi slurpee

Day 4: Fri, June 4

Breakfast: a banana

Dinner: Chicken noodle soup + crackers

Day 5: Sat, June 5

Breakfast: banana + 1 cracker

Lunch: 4 chicken mcnuggets, small fries, half a small iced tea

Snack: Peach

Dinner: 6 chicken mcnuggets, half a small iced tea, a little chicken teriyaki

Day 6: Sun, June 6

Breakfast: cereal and soy milk

Snacks: peach, rice chips

Supper: Leftover chicken noodle soup.

Okay so I did a bit of research and apparently the chicken mcnuggets do have dairy. Not cool. So I failed Oh well. Keep trying!

Slacker

Ok I will admit. I have been slacking in the blogging department. I might go back and write some that I wanted to write. Lol. There have been some developments in my life lately so I will start yakking.

1. I’m still unemployed. Woop woop! BUT! I have had one phone interview and one real interview. I totally botched the phone interview. Not gonna lie. I’m not crushed because for one I didn’t really want the job and for two it was my first phone interview ever. The real interview apparently went well because they asked me back for a second interview! The second interview is on Monday so I am super psyched about that. I also have a phone interview on Tuesday for a different company so we will see about that too.

2. Knitting/Crocheting. I am still working on my anklets. They are coming slowly but surely. I took a scarf out of hibernation and I am working on that too. It’s a pink cable scarf and really pretty. I finished my bag, except for the handles, which luckily I am going downtown on Monday so I can check Dressew again for a handle. That’s about it on that front. Not working on anything else at the moment. I should be but I’m not. lol.

3. health! I don’t know if I mentioned that I have been having really bad stomach aches for ages. My doc diagnosed me with IBS, which basically is a blanket diagnosis for stomach aches, diarrhea, constipation, etc. Basically anything to do with stomachs. No I don’t have all the symptoms, but the worst is the stomach aches. They are like someone is squeezing my insides. Not cool. Anyways they started happening again and the doc suggested I figure out if I am lactose or gluten intolerant. I decided to test lactose first so I am now on a Lactose Free diet for a month. I started yesterday so this is day 2. It’s a bit harder than I expected. Anyways no milk for me! Hopefully this helps At the end of the month I’m supposed to drink a lot of milk and see if I get sick, sounds fun eh?

So many projects!

So I think I’m overwhelming myself again. I have a few projects on the go, and I’m not really close to finishing any of them.
1. Ripple Blanket – too damn big! It gets really hot when I work on it.
2. Afterthought Socks – honestly, boring. I want to frog them.
3. Flame Scallop Cardi – The directions got a bit confusing so I haven’t picked it up since I got stuck.
4. Music Mitts – coming along actually…just slowly. Chart knitting is not quick.
5. Cable Bag – I don’t have handles so I don’t feel like working on it. I should finish that last side though.
6. Painting project – Actually, not knitting related. I am painting some canvas art. I was just waiting for the paint to dry.

Today I want to start:
7. An Anklet a Day – soooo cute! They are little anklets. I have a lot of sock yarn too.

I think I am going to work on my cable bag just so it’s more done, and then finish painting, and then make the anklets.
